I have been trying to catch things up around the house and snapping pics of the animals. Here's the youngest calves, they are 3 months old, a few of the older calves will be leaving this weekend but I couldn't find them today, probably off in the shade somewhere.
The Roane Cty Livestock show is fast approaching. The lambs have to weigh at least 100lbs to sell by the 3rd week in October. We took them last week for a "check-in" weigh in. They were at 107 and 115. Thank goodness. It has been so hot here this summer the girls haven't got to do much, except get them out late in the evenings. They have gotten used to taking baths though. When the heat index is 100, who wouldn't like a cool shower.
The girls spend the biggest part of their day in front of the fan. They venture out into their lot in the evenings and they have them broke to lead. They are more like dogs than sheep.
Well, there's a few more pics and updates. Get back with you when I can.
Thanks for the update. I have been wondering how you have been doing there!

Donna,I have been "doing" so much that I have lost track of summer. Hard to believe we are starting 2nd cutting and I had my first fall calf today. Never a dull minute. I have been keeping up with your blog, but with me still having dial up it is more aggravating than enjoying. Everytime I try to leave comments it takes forever. It took 2 hours just to post my updates yesterday.Well I am out the door again.Keep in touch!

Wow! Those calves are looking good. I think they are a lot bigger than my little bull, Thunder. Hope the sheep do well at the fair.

Hi,
Can I use round bale feeder to feed this cute calves?
As I am new to cattle feeding, so confused that which bale feeders should I use? Your blog shows that you are an experienced person.
Gud luck! Love your blogs

Ian,
Good morning and welcome to the farm. As you can see it has been awhile since I have updated but I am working on that. When it comes to feeding I think it is mainly to how your farm as set up and what is best for you. I feed all square bales and do not actually use feeeders. I change my feeding area daily to keep from having my pastures torn up. If you have any questions I would be glad to help if I can. You can also visit Jim at A Ranchers View (see my blog list) he has been very helpful to me. Stop by any time. Hopefully I will get my site updated. Have a good day!
