As you know I am still in the land of dial up, so I can only bring you up to date slowly. Here's a few pics from this morning.
These guys are always into everything. I never knew turkeys were so curious. Final count, 1 gobbler 3 hens.
And we have a few more additions, picked these up on vacation. Never know what I might drag in.
I am going to try and get some pics of calves and have them uploaded this weekend. You won't believe how they have grown.
On my way out the door, more pics to follow.
It is good to hear from you, and look at those turkeys!!! They can be so entertaining. I got ours butchered yesterday. They ended up being HUGE! I read to grow them out about 22 weeks. They were at 21 but I knew they looked big so they were plenty ready. Last year we grew them that long and they were only about 16 lbs but they were bourbon reds. This year we had bronze. The dressed out at 22, 28, 33 and 34!!!! We have 117 lbs of turkey! We ground up one yesterday and that gave us about 15 lbs ground. We will grind another tonight. Then freeze the one and the other is cut into pieces to use throughout the year. I am boiling down the bones and meat we left behind and will freeze and maybe can some of the broth and meat.

Amy, Everyone keeps asking me what I am going to do with my turkeys. Never really thought about that, I just like having them around although I have threatened Bob, (the gobbler) he's being puffing up on me like he is going to whip me. He has my daughter bluffed, she won't go around him. I just tell him Thanksgiving is coming he better back off. HAHAHA

They are fun to have around but they are nice to have in the freezer too ;). We are having turkey burgers tonight.
Then you get to start over again next year with the cute little babies again. I didn't realize you didn't plan on eating them. It crosses my mind each time it comes to time to butcher what it would be like to have them as pets and spare their poor little turkey lives. But then I think about having to buy feed and go out and take care of them all winter. About then I come to my senses and call the butcher LOL.

Those turkeys are getting big! It looks like you have a lot of excellent bird help around the place now. Glad you're back up and posting!
